Buckhead Real Estate
Even though Buckhead is not a recognized city in itself, most Atlantans like to refer to the name Buckhead because of it's national claim to fame as being the "Manhattan" or "Beverly Hills" of Atlanta. Buckhead is located about 10 miles north of downtown Atlanta and just south of Roswell GA. Buckhead is known for it's Restaurants and night life, in addition to being Atlanta's financial district.
Buckhead Real Estate is well known for it's many highrise Condo Developments and extremely lavish and expensive Estate Homes. Buckhead Real Estate prices are up there, so those looking to live in a lap of luxury, be prepared to spend more than $300k for a decent condo or $900k for a reasonable house. Buckhead Real Estate taxes are not the prettiest either, but then fast-paced urban environments with incredible shops and delightful resaturants always comes with a price.
Lenox Square Mall and Phipps Plaza are "THE" places to get your shopping done around Buckhead. Buckhead is also well known to be the financial hub of Atlanta.
The
Streets of Buckhead is a new redevelopment of an area
just south of West Paces Ferry Road and East of Peachtree. The redevelopment
will encompass building high end retail mixed with residential and will most
certainly bring incredible value to Buckhead.
Buckhead's name was derived from Henry Irby's general store
and tavern, which was founded in 1837. It was located at what is now the northwest
corner of West Paces Ferry Road and Roswell Road. It was Irby, according to
his descendant, who killed a large deer and mounted the "buck head"
where travelers could see it. The name Buckhead proved durable, and a campaign
in the late 19th century to rename the area Northside Park was unsuccessful.
Buckhead is considered the shopping mecca of the Southeast,
with over 1,400 retail units and in excess of $1 billion a year in sales.
The Robb Report rated Buckhead one of the USA's 10 "Top
Affluent Communities" for "some of the most beautiful mansions,
best shopping and finest restaurants (including the renowned Buckhead Life
Restaurant Group
in the southeastern United States." Buckhead is also
considered one of Atlanta's most attractive business areas, where prosperity,
affluence and entertainment blend together harmoniously.
Buckhead is one of the "nation's best subcities,"
according to a report on America's top cities. "Emerging Trends in Real
Estate" compared the area's residential-commercial mix and 24-hour flavor
to San Francisco, New York and Boston.
"Despite the highest real estate costs in metro
Atlanta, businesses are so bewitched by Buckhead that the vacancy rates are
the lowest in the region."
Atlanta Business Chronicle
Atlanta ranked No. 1 among U.S. metropolitan areas as the best place for women
and minorities to climb the business ladder, according to Demographics Daily's
business-diversity index.
